How To Use Your Mind To Control Your Heart Rate

Professor Ellen Langer from Harvard wondered if people could consciously control their heart rate after simply measuring it regularly for one week without any instruction, training, or prior practice ter mindfulness or heart rate moderation technics.

Participants were assigned to one of four groups:

(1) High Attention group. Thesis people recorded their heart rate every three hours during waking hours.

(Two) Moderate Attention group. Thesis people recorded their heart rate twice vanaf day at a diversity of times during the day.

(Trio) Stability group. Thesis people recorded their heart rate te the morning upon waking and at night before bloembed when their heart rate wasgoed expected to be relatively stable.

(Four) No Monitoring group. Thesis people only recorded their activity during the day and did not measure their heart rate.

Both the Stability group and the Moderate Attention group weren’t very good at enhancing their heart rate. But the High Attention group did significantly better.

It’s interesting that Langer and hier team conducted a mindfulness test on the participants based on a scale Langer has developed to measure the degree ter which a person is naturally mindful. Those who scored the highest on the mindfulness scale were better at raising their heart rate and had greater control of their heart rate regulation. Langer points out ter hier book Tegenstoot Clockwise, that hier research doesn’t showcase how they did it but that the findings highlight the potential effects that the act of paying attention can have on our health. Through this biofeedback proefneming, wij see that people learn to switch their physical function simply by paying regular attention to fluctuation. Having had arrhythmia for the past ten years and having meditated for overheen 20 years, I have used mindfulness and breathing exercises to control my heart rate. I can slow my heart to 50 hits a minute or increase it spil sometimes my heart rate is too slow. I also suffer with irregular heart hammer which I can also normalise with thesis technologies. Switching my diet and lifestyle has also had a massive influence on my well being. Your speelfilm downright verifies my own practice. Firstly, taking responsibility for your own health and welfare and not expecting a doctor to do it for you. Quantum Physics is suggesting that wij exist ter a ",Participatory Universe",. Te other words, what wij think and feel has consequences for ",material", matter. Experiments have suggested that by the mere fact that wij observe something wij switch it. My sense is that our thoughts / observations / feelings have much further reaching consequences than wij are presently willing to entertain. If wij can influence out heart rates by ordinary observation, perhaps our respiratory rate and blood pressures can be influenced spil well. Attempt going to your local pharmacy with a blood pressure / heart rate device and proef. I have attempted this and have found that I can influence all of thesis bodily functions. wij can learn this by ordinary bio-feedback methods. This is ordinary thing to do. If wij can potentially do this, what else can wij do? Can wij influence, ter a positive way, the course of any disease wij ourselves may presently have? Can wij influence cancerous tumors? Can wij assist others ter this manner, helping them to overcome their ailments. Can wij consciously switch the course of both our health and the health of others? On a grander scale, can wij influence the direction that all of humanity is taking? Are wij doing this anyway, without skill of what wij are doing? Something to think about? Maybe wij should read about learn from the Yogis of the past and present where this kleuter of thing is all too familiar to them. Meditation can be a powerful implement. Knowing the potential of our mind/bod, maybe wij should always be aware of our thoughts and feelings and bring ourselves to an internal state of peace for our well-being and the well-being of others. Just some thoughts on the subject…..

This is basic ",biofeedback", technique…and I don’t mean to belittle it by calling it basic, only that your mind can be trained to influence your figure when given positive terugkoppeling about success. Spil a Migraineur, I’ve just bot trained to use my mind to raise my skin temperature, which is an indicator of vascular constriction, ter order to avoid the chronic vasoconstriction which leads to migraines. Amazing. I observed a u tube movie of therapists curing cancer with positve intention and chanting. The patient wasgoed also required to positively visualise recovery. An ultra sound showcased the tumour reducing te size. It wasgoed amazing!

Tiller is a Stanford scientist who became interested te the practices he had through meditation.
